Taos Ski Valley announced today that they will close early for the season this Sunday, March 22, due to heightened concerns over health and safety. All remaining events at the ski resort will be canceled, including the World Pro Ski Tour Taos World Championships, scheduled for April 10-12, 2020.
“The COVID-19 situation continues to develop, and while we were preparing and looking forward to the 2020 World Championships, suspending this competition is the best decision for our athletes, staff and fans,” says Jon Franklin, CEO of the WPST. “We are in the midst of a true health crisis, and we want to do our part to help flatten the curve.”
“Our values compel us to make business decisions that are equitable for all. While we are planning this step proactively to help mitigate the potential spread of the virus… we have determined that this is currently the best course of action,” says David Norden, CEO of Taos Ski Valley.
The World Pro Ski Tour echoes the sentiments of the Taos Ski Valley values, and plans to resume competitions when appropriate. For more updates on the remaining World Pro Ski Tour season, including the April 4-5 Tour Finals scheduled in Sunday River, Maine, please check https://worldproskitour.com.
