Below is the Athlete Registration Guide for the Steamboat Springs race

Welcome to the 2023 winter race season! Hosted by The World Pro Ski Tour. Our Tour of professional ski races will expand to 16 races from four venues this season, and once again we will offer a Women’s Tour.

The WPST will host eight men and eight women’s races. The race format will dual super slalom or giant slalom, single-elimination, bracket-style competition. Prize money will be $10,000 going to first place in the first three events and going up to $20,000 for the World Championship events in Taos. The prize money will be matched for both the men and women’s events.

The first stop will take place in Steamboat Springs, Colorado at Howelsen Hill, January 5-7, 2023. A single super slalom qualification will be held on Friday, January 6. Super slalom dual event will follow for both the men and women on Friday and Saturday.

We have compiled information for our online and in-person registration process. Enclosed with this email, you will find the schedule of events, and the 2023 Rules of Competition. We will post the schedule of events on our website each weekend we host events.

If you are already registered, you do no need to register again. You only need to sign the athlete contract for the 2022/23 season. Choose one of the options below:

2023 Season Schedule

January 5-7, 2023 – 2 Men/2 Women SL events City of Steamboat at Howelsen Hill, Colorado

February 10-12, 2023 – 2 Men/2 Women SL/GS events Bear Valley, California

March 2023 – 2 Men/2 Women SL/GS events East Coast Event, TBD

March 30-April 1, 2023 – 2 Men/2 Women SL/GS events World Championships, Taos Ski Valley, New Mexico

Athlete Registration

For Steamboat, registration will close Friday, December 30, at midnight MST. This allows our staff and TV production crew time to prepare for the upcoming events.
 
For the 2023 race season, all ATHLETE REGISTRATION WILL CLOSE ON WEDNESDAY’S, AT MIDNIGHT (the week prior to the events). 

Our online racer portal is now open. For our athlete registration, the first steps will include our online racer portal. This will allow you to complete the registration documents, and make payments online.

We will qualify 32 for each race, men and women, if there are less than 28 athletes, the field will be reduced to 16 to qualify (per governing rules). If there are less than 14 athletes the field will be reduced to eight to qualify.

On Thursday, January 5, all athletes, including both men and women must check-in at Howelsen Hill, from 3:00 to 6:00pm for bib distribution, lift tickets, handouts, and waivers that need to be completed prior to racing. See the enclosed schedule for more details.

Online Meeting

The athlete, race staff, and TV production team meeting will follow the racer registration, followed by a Welcome Reception. We have enclosed the Zoom call information at the end of this page to call in for the meeting. Athlete’s must either attend in person or be on the Zoom call.

Below is a breakdown of our fees. If you have any questions prior to registering online, please contact me to avoid any issues with the registration portal.

Entry Fees for Racers: 8 Season Events (Men & Women)

Membership $200 membership for the season

Entry Fees/Members $125 per event, $250 total per weekend

Non-Member Entry $150 for entry per event, $300 total per weekend

NCAA Entry $100 (Must show proof of school) $200 total per weekend

Member Benefits for Men and Women;

  • Customized Race Bib with racers name at each WPST event
  • Discounted Race Entrance Fees
  • Accumulate points for the overall season the Tour Champion Title
  • Accumulate points for the overall season the Rookie of the Year Title
  • Accumulated points from the Speed Run Winner during each qualifying
  • Priority seeding ahead of non-members in each event
  • Ability to vote/sit on the WPST Racer Board
  • 15% commission on any sponsorship brought to WPST
  • Discount lodging through host hotel (upon availability)

The Online Registration is a 3-step process. Please make sure to follow all the steps:

When registering as a Tour Member please follow the steps below.

Step 1. REGISTER AS MEMBER OR NON-MEMBER (racer portal) First Time

You must first create a racer account with a username and password at our website using one of the two registration options below, as a Member or a Non-Member. When you get to the registration page you will be required to fill out a registration form that will provide us your bio information that will used on website, social media and TV appearances. After you submit the registration form you will be required to sign an athlete agreement. After signing the agreement, you will be automatically signed into the website and taken to the race registration page where you can begin the process of registering and paying. You will not be able to pay for races until after you have registered (setting up a username and password).

Step 2. DO NOT FORGET TO GO BACK AND PAY (racer portal)

Register and pay your race fee. If you choose to join as a member you will not get member discount pricing until after you have paid the membership fee, pay for your membership first, then go back to the “Race Registration” page and you will see the discounted price per each race on the race registration page, you will be able to pay for multiple races at once.

Step 3. PRIZE MONEY PAYOUT

All prize money will be paid through ACH payment services and deposited directly into your bank account. The ACH and tax forms need to be complete and email them back prior to your first event, at lmnelson@worldproskitour.com. This only has to be done one time for the season. The forms must be completed for any prize money payments to be made. If for some reason the ACH will not work a check can be mailed to you.

Our TV production company is in full swing for the upcoming winter season, producing a number of television shows throughout the season.

The World Pro Ski Tour is working diligently to build and promote the 2023 race season. We will have additional information at our athlete meeting, which will include new sponsor information, schedule updates and TV production.

The week before each event, an email will be sent out with any schedule changes, information for the online meeting, updates, and any additional event information.
