Due to an abbreviated season after COVID-19, the WPST hosted a virtual awards ceremony to recognize our hard-working athletes for their spectacular performances during the 2019-20 races.

1st Place: Robert Cone, Redneck Racing

2nd Place: Michael Ankeny, Tokyo Slalom Drift

3rd Place: Garret Driller, Team America

Rookie of the Year: Simon Breitfuss Kammerlander

In case you missed it, two-time Olympic gold medalist, Ted Ligety, joined the Zoom call as everyone said hello from their living rooms; Ligety gave kudos to his fellow WPST racers for a job well done in race conditions that proved more difficult than he had expected. He said that he hopes to be back in future seasons. Garret Driller shared his favorite points about the new WPST, while Michael Ankeny gave his perspective on the ability to work full-time on Wall Street and still having the ability to race at an elite level. Simon talked about the differences between the WPST and racing other formats, while Rob Cone gave us his secret to skiing a near-perfect season. Spoiler alert: be as athletically gifted as he is!

In case you missed it, you can view the full awards ceremony and discussion on the WPST Facebook page.
